Any television that broadcasts its signals to audiences at a resolution that is higher than that which is being broadcast by regular televisions is HDTV; and HDTV actually is also known as "High Definition Television".
Unlike the slower nature of the analog signals that are synonymous with traditional television, the HDTV's digital signals transmit digital signals that have very high picture resolution. When I first heard about the HDTV, I was told that I could see a spot on the face of someone on screen but I didn't believe it, but when I got my HDTV I was amazed that not only was this possible, but I could even see a lot more than that, unlike what's applicable with a normal television.
A good way to get cheap HDTV can be to buy those that are refurbished models; don't be surprised that many of these work very well without developing problems.
